Ali Ansari started out speaking into a microphone in a Karachi radio booth before anyone knew his face. He worked as a radio presenter and DJ because acting wasn't in his immediate plans. But the camera has a momentum of its own that tends to pull in those who project physical confidence and a well-pitched voice.
In 2015, he made his television debut with the production Riffat Aapa Ki Bahuein.
His landing was not a loud one, nor did he seek unanimous applause from the first minute. That family series taught him how to handle long waits on set and the mechanics of scripted dialogue. And it worked because Ansari quickly understood that in Pakistan's TV industry, consistency is worth more than a single stroke of luck.
For a couple of seasons he built up credits in roles that were not always leading ones. In 2017 he appeared in Khaani, a drama that drew massive audiences and where his role as Sarim gave him a visibility that had eluded him until then. The industry began to see in him more than a face for men's clothing ads.
Television is a business of endurance.
In 2018 he filmed Baba Jani and shortly after Shahrukh Ki Saliyan in 2019. This last project let him explore light comedy, something few expected after seeing him in intense dramas. But the change of tone was not an accident; it was a deliberate technical decision to keep casting directors from typecasting him as the tormented leading man.
In January 2022, his name made the cover pages of the gossip press due to his marriage to fellow actress Saboor Aly. The event generated enormous online buzz across the region's social networks, but Ansari kept his usual production pace without letting his personal life consume his professional schedule. He signed contracts for three major productions before that year's cycle ended.
And the gamble paid off.
In 2023 he starred in Samjhota, playing Zohaib in a storyline about complex family dynamics after the loss of a key pillar. The series passed 20 million views across several of its episodes on digital platforms. Because Ansari's audience now wants characters who carry the emotional weight of the story, not just supporting roles.
During the shoot of Dil-e-Momin in 2024, the actor requested lighting changes in certain sequences to favor a gritty realism over the usual studio gloss. The final contract stipulated a maximum workday of fourteen hours, including travel time.
