The award nobody expected

Anastasiya Krasovskaya arrived at the Locarno Film Festival in 2021 without a résumé to back her up. She had no formal training or years of theater behind her. All she had was the lead role in Gerda and an instinct that left the international jury speechless.

She won the Best Actress award.

Before that, her life revolved around runways and photo shoots in China. She worked as a professional model for years, and that experience gave her physical endurance that she would later apply on the most demanding film shoots in Eastern Europe. But modeling was a means to an end, never a lasting vocation.

She sent in her audition tape for Gerda out of pure curiosity. Director Natalya Kudryashova chose her from hundreds of applicants because she was looking for someone not tainted by the habits of traditional acting schools. And the gamble paid off.

Street law and the uniform

Recognition on the art-house festival circuit can be a double-edged sword for newcomers. Many names get stuck in the independent circuit, but Krasovskaya chose to jump to mainstream television. In 2023 she took part in Slovo patsana. Krov na asfalte, a series that brought digital viewing to a standstill in several Eastern European countries.

She played Irina, a juvenile inspector trying to restore order in a world of violent youth gangs. The production was a logistical challenge due to freezing temperatures and constant media pressure. More than one million viewers followed each episode simultaneously on streaming platforms.

It was a necessary change of style.

In 2023, she also premiered Belyy spisok. It's a dark thriller in which she plays a young woman caught up in an investigation into teen suicides. Here, her working method relies on silence and a restrained expressiveness that the camera loves in close-ups.

Numbers and New Horizons

Her work pace remains steady. In 2024 she joined the shoot of Vnutri ubiytsy, an adaptation that required a technical setup well beyond the average regional production. The series' budget exceeded ten million euros during preproduction and set design.

She doesn't like long interviews or empty promotional events. She prefers to talk about the technical process or how she physically prepares for roles that require action scenes. She is a film professional who sees the lens as a precision tool rather than a showcase for personal ego.

In late 2024, she wrapped up her participation in a science fiction project shot entirely on studio sets with controlled artificial lighting. The shoot lasted seventy-two consecutive days with fourteen-hour shifts each day.
