Andrew Form started out fetching coffee for Jerry Bruckheimer. That's not a metaphor. In the nineties, the producer learned the mechanics of large-scale filmmaking from the most basic logistical level.
In 2001, he co-founded Platinum Dunes with Michael Bay and Brad Fuller. The business idea was clear: revive horror classics with technical polish well above the usual B-movie standard.
The gamble paid off.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre grossed more than 107 million dollars in 2003, starting from a budget of just 9 million. That was the formula Form repeated for a decade with titles like The Amityville Horror in 2005 or Friday the 13th in 2009.
The producer soon realized that young audiences weren't looking for originality but for an aggressive visual experience. But the remake model eventually wore thin due to market saturation and the rejection of specialized critics.
Form's career took a sharp turn in 2014 with the launch of the The Purge franchise. This time, the goal wasn't to look back at the past. The premise was fresh and allowed for shooting on controlled budgets in limited locations.
The turning point came in 2018 with A Quiet Place. The film cost 17 million dollars and went on to earn more than 340 million at the global box office.
That was the moment of truth.
The success of the film directed by John Krasinski validated Form as a producer capable of spotting concepts with high emotional impact. So in 2019 he decided to part ways with Platinum Dunes to pursue projects with a different identity.
That same year he founded Sunday Night Productions. The new company was born with a specific goal focused on creating original content and managing major TV franchises such as Jack Ryan for Amazon Prime Video.
In 2022, he married actress Alexandra Daddario in New Orleans. His public profile grew beyond the production offices, but his professional strategy stayed focused on the numbers and distribution deals.
In 2024, he released IF. The film marked a complete shift in register toward family-friendly fantasy cinema, with an estimated budget of 110 million dollars.
And the risk was high.
The production mixed live action with complex digital animation under Krasinski's direction once again. The box office results in international theaters that year confirmed Form's ability to handle cutting-edge technology projects.
Sunday Night Productions has a first-look deal with Paramount Pictures signed in 2019. The contract ties most of its creative projects to this studio on a priority basis.
