Camille Razat never planned to end up in front of a movie camera.
At sixteen, her life revolved around modeling in Toulouse, and acting was far from her mind. But an offer from the Premium Models agency changed her career path before she came of age.
She moved to Paris to work with luxury brands, and that physical exposure opened the doors to casting calls. In 2015, she landed her first major role in the series Disparue on France 2. She played Lea Morel, the missing teenager at the center of the suspense plot.
It was a trial by fire.
That project performed well with audiences and showed her that her looks were not her only professional asset. But her real breakthrough came in 2020 with the release of Emily in Paris on Netflix.
More than 50 million households saw her face within less than a month. She played a young Parisian woman who broke the show's usual stereotypes, which instantly gave her global visibility.
Unlike many actors who wait for their agent to call, Razat decided to take the initiative. In 2021, she founded her own production company, Tchik Tchik Productions, to develop her own projects from the ground up.
Because she understands the industry as a business where the actor is often the weakest link. So she started looking for scripts that moved away from light romantic comedy and explored other genres.
And the risk materialized quickly.
In 2022, she starred in Mastemah, a psychological horror film directed by Didier D. Daarwin. She played a psychiatrist who moves to the countryside after a personal tragedy and ends up facing inexplicable events.
The shoot was physically demanding and grueling, but it proved she could carry a feature film on her shoulders. French critics praised her restraint in a genre that often rewards excess and cheap screaming.
Her time in American cinema was brief, under the direction of Clint Eastwood in The 15:17 to Paris in 2018. It was a small role (just a brief appearance), but it gave her an inside look at how the major Hollywood studios work.
In 2024, she appeared in the film Prodigieuses, inspired by the life of the Pleynet sisters, who were pianists. The script demanded a very high level of technical discipline to convincingly simulate musical mastery on screen, and Razat spent months rehearsing postures and movements.
Not everything has been a commercial success.
Some smaller productions like Girls with Balls in 2018 went unnoticed by the general public despite their B-movie appeal. But Razat keeps a busy schedule, balancing mainstream television with independent European film, without neglecting her business ventures.
The actress still lives in Paris and manages her endorsement contracts with high-end cosmetics brands. In 2025, she is scheduled to start filming a new European production with a budget of €12 million.
