Camilo Andrés Echeverry Correa first stepped onto a set in 2007, winning the children's version of Factor XS in Colombia. That early victory in front of the cameras helped him record two forgotten albums and, whether he liked it or not, understand how the children's television machine worked.

He spent nearly ten years in the shadows, writing hits for others in hotel rooms in Miami. He wrote the song Sin pijama for Becky G and contributed to the repertoire of Bad Bunny before deciding to sing again. He learned how a commercial structure comes together from the engine room.

And the behind-the-scenes work paid off.

In 2018 he decided to present himself to the public without his last name. He appeared with a sharp, wax-styled 19th-century mustache, loose raw linen clothing and a staging meticulously designed to set him apart from the other urban artists on radio playlists.

Total Control of the Domestic Narrative

In contemporary pop, content outranks the music. Camilo understood that premise when he turned his private life alongside actress and director Evaluna Montaner into a non-stop shoot.

Every family milestone was captured in natural light and fixed-lens shots in pieces such as Por primera vez in 2020 or Índigo in 2021. They didn't invent the home-video format, but they got millions of people to watch their videos the way one follows a serialized sitcom.

The public bought the story without blinking.

Ties to the Montaner clan opened doors for him in American studios. In 2021 he lent his voice to the character Pepe in the animated feature Koati, produced in the United States under the supervision of Sofía Vergara.

But his real interest was never in playing roles for hire. He wanted to document his own machinery from the inside, with his own cameras.

From the Stage to the Digital Film Archive

In 2022 HBO Max premiered the documentary feature Camilo: El primer tour de mi vida, co-directed by Camilo Ríos. The film covered the concerts in venues such as the WiZink Center in Madrid and documented the rehearsal routine with a direct tone.

Across ninety minutes of footage, the camera captured both the sheer scale of the stadiums and the physical toll of a tour with dozens of crew members moving between two continents. The editing avoided the artifice of music videos and focused on the conversations in the hallways.

That same 2022 was part of the main cast of the documentary series Los Montaner for Disney+. The production unpacked the contracts, recordings and internal dynamics of one of the most influential families in the Spanish-speaking entertainment industry.

In 2024 he released his album Cuatro, backed by twelve audiovisual pieces shot in one-take sequences with an analog texture. Two years later, in 2026, he presented the project Para cuando sean mayores and booked a tour of arenas for 2027 with thirteen dates in Spain.

During the mixing sessions for that repertoire in 2024, he scrapped fourteen consecutive takes of a horn section over a mere two-millisecond mismatch with the digital clapperboard.

Camilo Trivia

Things you probably didn't know about Camilo

He won the Factor Xs talent competition in Colombia in 2007, before he had launched his solo career; that victory opened the doors of the music industry for him.
Before establishing himself as a singer, he made a name for himself as a songwriter in Spain. His first standout work there was with Dani Martín, whom he met at Juanes' house, and with whom he went on to write songs in Zahara de los Atunes.
Mau y Ricky, who would later become his brothers-in-law, were instrumental in launching his career as an artist: they brought him on as a vocalist for "All of Us Strangers," a song that helped make him popular internationally.
The title "Tutu" comes from an affectionate nickname Camilo used to refer to Evaluna Montaner; the song later also featured a version with Shakira.
His collaboration with Camila Cabello on "Ambulancia" was described as a "deconstructed" bachata and had been in the works for a long time before its release.
For the album "Cuatro," he wrote and produced every song, a creative process he developed with collaborators and presented as a musical exploration driven by curiosity.
Although it's often associated with reggaeton, "Vida de rico" is a cumbia; the way his songs have been treated has itself questioned the idea of confining him exclusively to that genre.
His first Latin Grammy as a performer came for "Tutu," which won the award for Best Pop Song; he had previously been recognized for his work as a songwriter.
In 2018, he took part in the production and sound of "Si estuviéramos juntos" by Bad Bunny, alongside Tainy, although he was not credited as a songwriter.
