Chen Bohao

From Score to Screenplay

Chen Bohao didn't enter the entertainment industry looking for a film camera. His original training at the Beijing Contemporary Music Academy pointed him straight toward music stages. In 2018 he took part in the Super Vocal competition, and that exposure changed his plans completely.

And the change was permanent.

In 2019, she got her big break as an actor in the series Wait, My Youth. She played Zhou Lin, and her ability to convey melancholy with barely any dialogue caught the attention of casting directors. He wasn't the typical fast-track newcomer chasing the easy shot.

That same year he worked on The Legends. It was a complex period production (with grueling shoots and heavy costumes) that taught him the technical rhythms of a major set. He learned to wait and to maintain dramatic intensity between takes.

Managing the Schedule

In 2020, his work pace picked up with titles such as The Best of You in My Mind and True Colours. He began moving away from the standard young idol image and looking for roles with more edge. But the Chinese market is voracious and demands a constant presence to avoid being forgotten.

Your role in The Forbidden Flower during 2023 marked a turning point in your international career. The series stood out for its highly cinematic look, and Chen Bohao fit well into that more sophisticated visual world. Critics praised your restrained performance.

Maturity came early.

In 2024, he joined the cast of As Beautiful as You. In this project he took on a more urban, business-focused storyline, a register that requires a different kind of restraint than historical dramas. His physical transformation also reflects this change of roles.

The numbers don't lie.

Because Bohao understands that an actor's staying power in China depends on technical adaptability. In 2025 he plans to begin shooting an auteur drama in Guangdong province. The estimated production budget exceeds 15 million yuan.
