In 1996, a sixteen-year-old from Móstoles earned his first paycheck in front of a camera on the series Médico de familia. He played a gang member in a shady high school storyline. Shortly after, he made brief appearances on La casa de los líos and Al salir de clase.
Those auditions opened the door to the youth circuit. In 1999, he signed with Antena 3 to host the morning magazine show Desesperado Club Social. The program ran for three years on air and won a Premio Ondas before the network abruptly canceled it.
No one in the industry saw the rosco coming.
In 2005, Christian Gálvez put on a dark suit and sunglasses to work as a reporter on Caiga quien caiga. His street style relied on verbal agility and sass in front of whichever politicians were in the spotlight. Telecinco took notice of the buzz.
In July 2007, the network handed him the reins of Pasapalabra after taking it away from Antena 3. Gálvez gave the show a frantic pace, turning every rosco into a timed test of physical endurance. It meant more than 3,000 straight afternoons piling up audience shares above 20%.
And the machine had no tolerance for diction errors.
But in October 2019, a Supreme Court ruling forced Mediaset to immediately halt the show's broadcasts over a dispute about the rights held by the British company ITV. The host lost his studio within hours. The network hastily tried to place him with El tirón inside Sálvame, but the experiment lasted only a few months.
Far from the spotlight, Gálvez devoted his time to Renaissance archives. In 2014 he published the novel Matar a Leonardo da Vinci and sold over 50,000 copies across the Spanish-speaking market. He then continued his publishing line with essays on Raphael and Michelangelo.
His move into educational programming stirred up an unexpected storm. Between 2018 and 2019, he took on curating the official exhibition Leonardo da Vinci: los rostros del genio at the Palacio de las Alhajas in Madrid. Several historians from the Spanish Committee of Art History issued harsh statements accusing the organizers of encroachment for entrusting the show to a television personality.
He took the criticism in stride. His response was to join Da Vinci's international genetic analysis project and keep publishing regularly about the Tuscan painter.
In March 2020, he decided to set up his own company with two trusted directors and financial backing from Mediaset. They founded Fénix Media Audiovisual, with 40% of the capital coming from the Fuencarral-based group. The goal was to produce game shows and documentaries for the parent network.
From that trench, he produced and hosted The Living Daylights in 2021 and the game show 25 Words in 2022. The audience no longer stayed loyal as before, and constant schedule changes hurt the share ratings.
The remote control was merciless.
In September 2024, Cuatro's management entrusted him with rescuing ¡Boom! in the afternoon slot to try to slow down the competition. The show failed to reach the minimum commercial profitability figures, and the network canceled the recordings after barely three months on the schedule.
In January 2025, Gálvez announced his departure from Fénix Media Audiovisual to revive his independent production company, 47 Ronin, and focus on audio and documentary projects. Months later, the Official Gazette of the Commercial Registry certified the final dissolution of Fénix Media Audiovisual through a final liquidation balance of zero euros.
