Christine Adams was born in London in 1974 and trained at Middlesex University. She wasn't chasing quick fame. She started out in London's theater scene before the camera homed in on her angular face and her talent for holding silence.
London was too small for her.
In 2004, she appeared in the miniseries NY-LON and soon after crossed the Atlantic to try her luck in the United States. Her appearance in Batman Begins in 2005 marked her first brush with big-budget blockbusters, where she played Jessica. But it wasn't smooth sailing: in Hollywood, actresses with her profile often get typecast in supporting roles of authority.
In 2010, she moved to Los Angeles for good. That year she landed a role in the series The Whole Truth and began taking on one science fiction project after another, which earned her a loyal fan base. That's because Adams has a physical presence that fits futuristic or dystopian settings well.
In 2011, Steven Spielberg was cast for Terra Nova. She played Mira, the leader of a rebel group, and proved she could carry the dramatic weight of a complex storyline. The series lasted just one season, but it helped casting directors see her as an action heroine with depth.
And the gamble paid off.
Between 2014 and 2015, she joined the Marvel universe in the series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., playing Agent Anne Weaver. She didn't need grand gestures to command respect on screen. Her name soon began to surface for projects seeking female characters with a mix of toughness and intellectual vulnerability.
In 2016, she worked on the series Feed the Beast alongside David Schwimmer. It was a short ten-episode run that gave her the chance to explore a more grounded dramatic register before returning to the superhero genre that has done so much for her career.
In 2018, the project arrived that brought her financial and creative stability. She stepped into the role of Lynn Stewart in Black Lightning. Adams filmed 78 episodes until the series finale in 2021, and her character moved away from the cliché of the hero's wife to become a scientist with her own agenda.
There was no turning back.
During her years filming in Atlanta, she balanced her work with film appearances such as Spare Parts in 2015. But television was the medium that best suited her pace and her ability to shoot long scenes without losing intensity. In 2021, she appeared in the series Ordinary Joe playing Monica.
In 2023, she joined the cast of Hijack, an Apple TV+ production in which she shared the screen with Idris Elba. She played Marsha Hutchins in a tense, real-time thriller that performed well on digital platforms. In 2024, she appeared in the film Miller’s Girl under director Jade Halley Bartlett, with an estimated budget of four million dollars.
