Diana Staehly didn't get into acting through a stroke of luck at a shopping mall casting. In 1997, she joined the cast of Unter uns to bring Lona Dee to life, and she endured three years of grueling shoots in Cologne. That period taught her that the camera doesn't forgive a lack of preparation.

And she did it with total dedication.

Between 2001 and 2004, she decided to step back and study formally in Berlin. She didn't want to be just a familiar face on German afternoon TV. She completed her training at the Hollywood Acting Workshop and sought technical tools to take on more complex characters. But the role that truly changed her professional standing came with a gray office and an insufferable boss.

In 2004, she accepted the role of Tanja Steinke in the series Stromberg. That German version of The Office ran for five seasons and ended with a film in 2014. Staehly played an efficient employee who had to survive the chaos of an insurance company. The role earned her critical respect for her gift for dry comedy.

The series became a cult favorite.

During those same years, she balanced the office job with police drama in Bavaria. In 2007, she joined Die Rosenheim-Cops to play Patrizia Ortmann. She stayed on the show until 2016 and appeared in a total of 247 episodes. That heavy workload gave her a technical confidence that very few actors of her generation possess.

From the Police Station to the Medical Clinic

In 2017, she took the lead in SOKO Wismar, playing police chief Katrin Börensen. She replaced Li Hagman and carried the storyline until 2020. But in 2021, she chose to return to the format that launched her career, taking on a complex role. She joined Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten to play Melanie Evers.

It was a comeback with a twist.

Her character reappeared after waking from an eight-year coma. That storyline about marital tension lasted several months and required a much darker dramatic range than her earlier work. In 2024, the actress began a new chapter in the cast of Bettys Diagnose. There, she plays Dr. Helena von Arnstett at the Karlsklinik in Aachen.

Staehly lives in Berlin with her husband, director René Wolter, and their daughter. In 2024, she balances hospital shoots with voice-over work for dubbing and commercials. Production on her current series demands 12-hour days.
