María Emilia Mernes Rueda was born in Nogoyá, an Argentine town in Entre Ríos where the noise of the music industry seemed far away. In 2016, her life changed with a direct message on Instagram. That invitation made her the female voice of Rombai and pushed her out of her comfort zone and onto stages across Latin America.
Her time in the Uruguayan band was brief but intense. She left the group in 2018 with the intention of finding her own identity in Miami. It was not an easy road. She spent months training and writing songs before releasing her first solo material under the Sony Music Latin label.
It was a blind bet.
In 2019, she released Recalienta, and the market realized she was more than a pretty face coming out of a hit band. But real control over her narrative came when she started shaping the visual aesthetic of her videos as if they were independent films. In 2022, she released her first studio album, titled Tu crees en mí? and streaming numbers began telling a story of steady rise.
Her involvement in acting is no whim. In 2021, she joined the cast of Entrelazados, a Disney+ production in which she played Sofía. That experience gave her insight into shooting schedules and the discipline that international television demands. She wasn't the lead, but her physical presence on camera showed she understood the language of film beyond the music video.
And then came the silence before the explosion.
The construction of her public image moved away from generic standards to embrace a very specific nostalgia. In 2023, she released .mp3, and the visual concept revived the fashion of the 2000s with surgical precision. She sold out all ten shows at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires in under ten hours during that same promotional cycle.
Her work isn't limited to singing into a microphone. She gets involved in the artistic direction and storytelling of her tours as if they were big-budget film productions. In 2024, the phenomenon crossed the pond with unexpected force in Spain. She filled venues in several cities and confirmed that her visual approach connects with a generation looking for tangible role models.
Because for her, music is inseparable from image. In November 2024, her participation in the Spanish dubbing of the film Moana 2 was confirmed, where she also performs the main theme over the end credits. This move ties her directly to the most powerful animated film industry in the world.
Her team's strategy is clear and leaves nothing to chance.
In 2025, she has two back-to-back dates scheduled at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid. Each concert has a potential capacity of 65,000 people. Projected revenue from merchandise and ticket sales exceeds the records of any Argentine solo artist of her generation in European territory.
