Hu Yitian stands 1.88 meters tall, and that was his first working tool. Before stepping onto a television set in Beijing, he spent months in front of cameras as a catalog model. The Risk of Getting Trapped in a Mold

It was his first serious venture into wuxia, and he had to learn complex fight choreography to bring Hua Wuque to life, a character that demanded absolute physical control.

In 2020, he shot all 36 episodes of My Roommate is a Detective, and that changed how most people viewed his acting ability.

He played Lu Yao, an eccentric and talkative detective. It was a necessary turn. It showed he could handle the rhythm of fast-paced comedy and that his physique was no obstacle to looking ridiculous or vulnerable on screen. He stopped being the talking bust who only knew how to gaze wistfully at the camera.

The gamble paid off.

Maturity beyond the period makeup

The years have moved him away from school uniforms. In 2024, he starred in Blossoms in Adversity alongside Zhang Jingyi. In this period drama, he played Gu Yanxi, and audience numbers on digital platforms confirmed that his name still carries commercial weight beyond lighthearted high school comedies.

His work method is built on restraint. He prefers minimal gestures to overacting, which has allowed him to take on project after project without a break. In 2024, he also appeared in Men in Love, exploring relationship dynamics from a more mature and less idealized angle than in his early work.

Filming Blossoms in Adversity required more than five months of intense shooting in closed studios. The production had a budget that exceeded 100 million yuan to ensure historical accuracy in the costumes and sets of the recreated dynasty.
