Jin Han

The soldier aesthetic

Jin Han was born in Xining in 1993, into a family with a military tradition. This background explains much of his physique and the way he moves in front of the camera. He studied at the Beijing Contemporary Music Academy, but his destiny was on movie sets.

He's not the typical porcelain-doll leading man.

In 2014 he took part in the show Road to Star and finished in third place. That opened doors in the industry, though the path wasn't straightforward. His first jobs were modest and focused on roles where his height made him stand out from the rest.

He played the villain in Princess Weiyoung in 2016. It was a supporting role that gave him visibility thanks to his sharp gaze. But audiences still hadn't quite settled on his face within the beauty standards of the time.

The year of his commercial breakout

In 2018, he landed the role that changed his bank account. He starred in Our Glamorous Time opposite Zhao Liying. He played an ex-soldier who inherits a struggling textile company, and the chemistry with his co-star sent ratings soaring.

Seven billion streams the series racked up on digital platforms during its airing weeks. That figure moved him out of supporting roles for good.

And the gamble paid off.

In 2019, he took part in Royal Nirvana, where he explored a much darker and more dramatic register. It was a sixty-episode production with demanding technical requirements. Filming stretched on for months in harsh weather conditions.

But success in China often comes with harsh criticism of his looks. In 2021 he starred in Jun Jiu Ling, and some viewers questioned his casting in a period historical drama. The controversy over whether he was handsome enough for the genre flooded Chinese social media.

Maturity and action projects

Jin Han decided to move away from flat characters. In 2022 he filmed Hello My Shining Love and sought out projects where his martial arts training made sense. His real value in the industry isn't classic good looks but the physical energy he brings to fight scenes.

In 2023, he joined the cast of The Last Immortal, playing Lan Feng. It was a return to the fantasy genre with a massive amount of visual effects. The production required weeks of work with wires and green screens at the Hengdian studios.

The actor keeps a low profile outside of filming.

In 2024, he worked on the series The Legend of Shen Li, bringing the character Fu Rong to life. The project had a production budget that exceeded 40 million euros in its initial phase. Most of his action scenes were filmed without stunt doubles, including many of the riskiest sequences.
