Eleven years of classical ballet shape the body in an irreversible way. Luo Yunxi had no intention of becoming an actor when he was teaching dance in Macau, but China's entertainment industry has a special radar for faces that can hold a close-up. In 2010, he tried his luck in music with the group J-Boy3, and the experience ended in an absolute commercial failure that forced him to rethink his professional future.
That period of hardship ended in 2015, when he played the young version of the lead in My Sunshine. It was a brief role. But his clear gaze and his way of walking caught the attention of casting directors looking for fresh faces for fantasy projects.
The public never forgot it.
His dance training lets him perform action scenes without stunt doubles in most wire shots. In martial arts and fantasy cinema, control of balance is more valuable than brute strength. He used that physical advantage to carve out a place in period productions where costumes weigh over ten kilos.
In 2018, he landed the project that changed his status in the Asian industry. His portrayal of Runyu in Ashes of Love broke the usual pattern of one-dimensional villains. Luo Yunxi built a complex character who undergoes a slow psychological transformation in front of the audience.
And the risk was worth it.
During the filming of that series, he spent months sleeping only about four hours a night to perfect the body language of a fallen prince. Audience data on digital platforms recorded viewing peaks during his key scenes. But he preferred to keep a low profile and avoid the aggressive promotional interviews that usually follow these milestones.
In 2020, he decided to step away from long robes to star in Love is Sweet. In this production, he showed his range worked in modern urban settings. The chemistry with his co-stars became the show's main engine, and luxury brands began to see him as a profitable ambassador for the global market.
The year 2023 marked his return to large-scale visual productions with Till the End of the Moon. In this project, he took on an exhausting physical workload to bring three distinct characters to life within the same storyline. The production used advanced motion capture technology, and he was involved in designing the combat choreography.
Before filming each sequence, he studies camera angles to optimize how the fabric of his costumes moves. He understands that in the xianxia genre, aesthetics are as much a part of the storytelling as the dialogue itself. His perfectionism has earned him a reputation as a difficult actor on set, but box office and streaming results usually back up his technical decisions.
In 2024, he took part in Follow Your Heart, where he explored a lighter, detective-driven tone. It was a necessary break before taking on productions of greater logistical scale. His name no longer depends on luck at a casting call, but on his ability to draw massive audiences across different continents.
In 2025, the shoot for Shui Long Yin brought together a visual effects team of more than one hundred people to coordinate his aerial action sequences. The estimated production budget exceeded 300 million yuan.
