Madeleine Jevic didn't need a leading role for the Australian industry to stop seeing her as a rising star. In 2018, she joined the set of Wentworth to play Brianna Wheeler, and she did it with a restraint that stunned the veteran cast members. Landing a role in Australia's most famous television prison was no stroke of luck.
Before stepping into a fictional jail, she spent years of technical training at the Victorian College of the Arts. There she learned that comedy is a matter of surgical precision. Her role as Nurse Lee in Upper Middle Bogan between 2013 and 2016 was a real test of her comic timing.
Television was her real school.
In 2016, she joined the cast of Offspring to bring nurse Courtney to life. The character required a constant balance between medical drama and the slice-of-life tone that defines Melbourne productions. But it was her time on Home and Away in 2020 that gave her massive visibility that the theater circuit could not offer.
Many actors desperately chase the close-up. Jevic seems to prefer meticulous craftsmanship at the edges of the scene. In 2021, she appeared in Ms Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries and showed she can carry period aesthetics without the costumes overshadowing her performance.
The truth is, her method is built on silence. She often uses body language to define her characters before delivering the first line of dialogue. In Australian television, filming schedules are frantic, and there is no room for doubt.
Filming took place in Western Australia.
In 2024, she was part of the second season of The Twelve. This legal drama allowed her to explore much darker registers, far from the lightness of her early work on ABC. That same year she worked on The Surfer, a production in which she shared the set with Nicolas Cage under the direction of Lorcan Finnegan.
Jevic's career is defined by her smart management of downtime between projects. During periods without filming, she has specialized in movement techniques and body expression. As a result, her physical presence on screen is now far more commanding than it was a decade ago.
In 2024, the production of her international projects handled budgets that exceeded $20 million. Jevic often negotiates clauses that guarantee specific rehearsal periods for the most physically demanding scenes.
The industry values her technical punctuality.
Unlike other actresses of her generation, she avoids unnecessary media exposure outside of promotional campaigns. On the set of Fake in 2024, she kept a low profile that contrasted with the intensity of her character. Post-production on her most recent work was done at Sydney studios using DaVinci Resolve color-correction technology.
