Myles Perez started working when other kids were still deciding which sport to play. His time on the series Sam & Cat in 2013 was brief, but it gave him a feel for the pace of a large-scale production. There were no big headlines or magazine covers at the time.
That shoot was his first contact with the industry in Los Angeles. In this business, early experience often separates those who fall by the wayside from those who ride out the storm. Perez decided to stay.
He learned by watching the crew and veteran actors.
Over the following years, he landed a string of minor appearances that helped him refine his on-camera technique. In 2016 he took part in Believe and later in The Haunted Hathaways. But the real change of pace didn't come until Disney set its sights on him for a long-term project.
In 2022, he joined the second season of The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, playing Ty. It was a physically demanding role that required him to spend many hours on the ice to make the sports action scenes believable. Filming took place largely on locations in California and Canada.
And the gamble paid off.
That same year, Netflix signed him for The Curse of Bridge Hollow. In this teen horror movie, he played Mario and shared the screen with Marlon Wayans. The production had a budget of 40 million dollars and was shot mainly in Georgia during the spring months.
Perez brought a dry, natural tone that avoided the usual excesses of teen comedy. But the most notable part of his work in that film was the chemistry he built with the rest of the young cast. Before shooting the action scenes, they rehearsed the special effects choreography for entire days.
The movie premiered in October 2022.
Unlike many actors of his generation, Perez hasn't just waited for his agent's calls. He has taken an interest in post-production and in how time is managed in an editing room. Understanding technical language helps an actor know where to stand in relation to the light without the director of photography having to step in.
In 2023, he took part in the short film The Grotto, where he explored a more dramatic register, far from the family productions of his early days. It was a low-budget project (barely a few thousand dollars) shot in a controlled environment to maximize the intimacy of the performances.
His training also includes acting schools in Florida, where he was born in 2005. There he worked on repetition and improvisation methods before making the leap to streaming productions. The contracts he signs now usually include temporary exclusivity clauses to secure his availability for possible sequels.
Filming for his most recent television appearance was completed in eighteen intensive workdays.
