Özge Törer stepped onto the set of Kuruluş: Osman in 2019 without having filmed a single minute of television before. She was twenty years old and studying at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University when the production company Bozdağ Film selected her for one of the most coveted roles in Turkish television. The industry was looking for a fresh face to play Bala Hatun.
It was a risky bet by the directors.
But the on-screen result silenced critics' doubts. Törer had to undergo military-style training that included horseback riding and short sword combat. These preparation sessions lasted ten hours a day before the official shoot of the first season began.
There were no concessions on set for her lack of prior experience. The actress learned to handle the pressure of a production crew that moves hundreds of extras in every battle. That physical demand shaped her performance from the first episode through the filming of 2024.
Before shooting, she reads the script looking for the silences in her character. In 2021, she won the Best Actress of the Year award at the Crystal Globe Awards for her ability to convey authority without relying on lengthy dialogue. That recognition came when she had barely two years of professional work in Istanbul behind her.
The actress remains true to her academic training in the performing arts.
Unlike other stars of her generation, she avoids overexposure in the media. In 2022 and 2023, she limited her public appearances to events strictly tied to promoting her work. This low-profile strategy has reinforced her image as a serious performer rather than a social media celebrity.
Because her priority has always been technical rigor on set. During the filming of 2024, the work pace stayed at six days a week, with shifts exceeding twelve hours outdoors. It is a physical toll that few young actors agree to endure across more than five consecutive seasons.
Törer's contract for the historical series has been renewed annually under strict exclusivity terms. The production uses cameras with anamorphic lenses to give a cinematic look to the scenes where she leads the female cast. The budget per episode exceeds four hundred thousand dollars in direct production costs.
And the industry respects that resilience.
In 2024, the series reached a screen share of over twenty percent in Turkey during its broadcast nights. Törer filmed the season's final combat sequences at a location on the outskirts of Riva, near the Black Sea. Each 140-minute episode requires an average of seven days of audio post-production.
