Sarah Desjardins

Vancouver doesn't hand out stars by accident. Sarah Desjardins was born there in 1994 and spent much of her teenage years going to casting calls before understanding that the Canadian industry has its own survival rules.

Her first real break came in 2011 with a small role in the biopic Magic Beyond Words. It was a modest debut, but enough to show that her look fit the TV productions that use British Columbia as a low-cost backdrop for the American market.

And the gamble paid off.

Training in Teen Genre Films

In 2016, she shot Project Mc2 for Netflix. It was fast-paced consumer entertainment, but it taught her to handle high-intensity shoots and tight budgets where time is the scarcest resource.

Her luck changed when Doug Liman cast her in Impulse in 2018. She played Jenna Hope over two seasons, and there she proved she could carry the dramatic weight of a science fiction series without falling back on the usual mannerisms of actresses of her generation.

And then came the chaos of Riverdale.

In 2019, she joined the fourth season of The CW series to bring Donna Sweett to life. The script was erratic and the plot twists bordered on the absurd, but she made her antagonist believable within that over-the-top universe.

Because Desjardins has a particular ability to keep her composure in scenes that would be ridiculous in the hands of another actress.

Maturing After the Survival Phenomenon

Casting for Yellowjackets in 2021 marked a technical leap in the way she worked. Playing Callie Sadecki meant facing a cast led by Melanie Lynskey and Juliette Lewis.

Audiences hated her character during the first season because she represented the rawest generational friction. But in the second season, filmed in 2023, the actress pushed for a change of tone to bring Callie into the main plot of concealment and family crime.

But her massive audience arrived with The Night Agent.

In 2023, she played Maddie Redfield, the daughter of the Vice President of the United States. The series accumulated more than 800 million viewing hours in its first months and put her on the radar of major Los Angeles action productions.

Before the end of 2023, her participation in TRON: Ares was confirmed. Filming for this Disney blockbuster was scheduled for 2024 under the direction of Joachim Rønning, with a budget exceeding $ 150 million.

This film marks her definitive entry into big-budget movies after a decade of television discipline. Her contract includes strict confidentiality clauses and a shooting schedule that stretched over several months back in her native Vancouver.

The film's release was set for 2025.
