In 1988, Terelu Campos made her big-screen debut in an oddball film titled Zocta: sólo en la Tierra se puede ser extraterrestre. She was twenty-three and shared the frame with comedian Joe Rígoli amid low-budget sets. That video-store curiosity stayed a fun anecdote, but it hinted at a connection with acting that would take three decades to bloom again.
The daughter of journalist María Teresa Campos, she started working in 1984 in the halls of Radio Cadena Española after her father's sudden death. There she learned the trade from the inside out, splicing sound reels and organizing run sheets before taking on production and music coordination for Jesús Hermida on Por la mañana during 1988.
During the first half of the nineties, she split her time between behind-the-scenes technical work and brief appearances on morning shows such as A mi manera and Pasa la vida. But her definitive leap in front of the cameras came in 1996, when she signed with Telecinco to co-host Día a día with her mother. Her ease under the spotlight worked, and executives at other channels took notice.
So in 1997, Telemadrid gave her solo hosting duties on Con T de tarde.
That daily magazine show went head to head with the giants of national television for seven consecutive seasons. Blending social news, interviews with international figures and laid-back debate, the show earned peak audience shares above 25% in the regional afternoon slot. It was fast, tense television, driven by the director's live instincts.
In 2004, she made the jump to Antena 3 to host the first season of the reality competition The Farm. The channel switch closed her golden era on regional public television and opened an uneven stretch of short-lived formats that never quite caught on in the schedule.
In 2007, she joined the late-night debate show La Noria on Telecinco as a contributor. That move paved the way for her arrival on Sálvame in 2009, a daily show that functioned as an ongoing drama fueled by the private lives of its own panelists. For more than a decade she juggled the dual role of substitute host and target of public scrutiny, weathering temporary departures and tense comebacks.
Because the set demanded that she expose the seams.
In 2016, she starred alongside her family in the docu-reality Las Campos, a domestic portrait that divided viewers but fascinated a new generation of directors. Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi immediately recognized the power of her public persona and in 2018 they called her in for the second season of the series Paquita Salas. There she played Bárbara Valiente, the ruthless owner of fashion magazine B Fashion, with a presence that paid tribute to American comedy's great villains.
Audiences were quick to celebrate her self-awareness.
In 2019, she returned for the third batch of episodes of Paquita Salas in a major role at the heart of the plot, delivering cutting comebacks with a naturalness that caught the film industry's attention. That performance sparked the interest of several commercial comedy directors eager to explore her screen presence on the big screen.
In 2024, director Hugo Martín Cuervo cast her in the ensemble comedy ¿Quién es quién?, produced by Atresmedia Cine. Her supporting role came down to just three shooting days and exactly four minutes of screen time in the final cut that hit theaters in December.
