Kikujiro

Masao is a nine-year-old boy who has to spend his summer vacation with his grandmother, so no more soccer games, since all his friends have gone off to the beach. Masao is so bored that he gets the idea to look for his mother, whom he has never met. With very little money and only a photo and an address as his only leads, the plan seems doomed to fail. A friend of his grandmother suggests that her husband accompany Masao. The problem is that Kikujiro, a former yakuza, doesn't seem like the most suitable companion for a child.
