If it doesn't scare you, you're already dead!

Barbra and her brother Johnny drive to an isolated cemetery in Pennsylvania to leave flowers on their father's grave. She feels uneasy among the tombstones, especially as evening approaches, and Johnny tries to scare her with jokes, having fun at her expense. The laughter stops abruptly when a man, for no apparent reason, lunges at the two siblings. George A. Romero's film stars Judith O'Dea as Barbra, and the opening sets the action in a rural setting where nothing seems threatening until the attack changes everything.

Trivia about Night of the Living Dead

With no money to build or buy a house for the main set, the filmmakers rented a nearby farmhouse that was scheduled to be torn down.
The special effects suffered from the tight budget: the fake blood, for example, was chocolate syrup, and sheep entrails were used in the cannibalism scenes.
The initial budget was 6,000 dollars, and each member of the production company invested 600 dollars in exchange for a share of the profits.
The most recognizable music in the movie came from reel D-24 (1956) of the Hi-Q library, which included the opening and closing music.
