Nosferatu, a symphony of horror.

In 1838, the German city of Wisborg is the setting for the quiet life of Thomas Hutter and his young wife, Ellen. Hutter works for Knock, a strange real estate agent who runs his business with great discretion. One day, Knock sends him on a long journey to Transylvania to visit a client, Count Orlok, who wants to buy an abandoned house directly across from the couple's home. While Hutter studies the route on a map, Knock secretly examines a mysterious letter filled with cabalistic symbols. Before leaving, Hutter says goodbye to Ellen. Directed by F. W. Murnau, the film casts Max Schreck as Count Orlok.

Trivia about Nosferatu

Actor Conrad Veidt was offered the role of Count Orlok but had to turn it down due to scheduling conflicts. The role ultimately went to Max Schreck, then an unknown actor.
Composer James Bernard, who scored many films for the Hammer studio, wrote a score for a re-release. Silva Screen Records released it in 1997.
In 2022, Dutch composer Jozef van Wissem presented a new score and album for the film. He said his soundtrack moves from silence to noise over the course of 90 minutes.
In 1930, Die zwölfte Stunde premiered in Vienna, a completely unauthorized and re-edited sound version. In it, Murnau's name no longer appeared in the credits.
