The Black Land

María works with her brother Ángel in a family business, the village's industrial mill, which he abandoned years ago. Cast out from everything, she works methodically to survive while Ángel's friends watch with satisfaction as María returns, savoring her life's failure. Ángel hires Miquel, and between him and María a mutual admiration grows. The stranger's presence causes fear because Miquel has been in prison and, moreover, there is something mystical about him that can influence others.
