Eight years of flute at the Tenerife conservatory don't prepare anyone for the harsh reality of Madrid's Gran Vía. Ana Guerra (San Cristóbal de La Laguna, 1994) balanced street music and waitressing with supporting roles in stage productions of Evita or Jesus Christ Superstar. That stage training before television gave her a physical command of space that few singing-contest hopefuls have when they step onto a set.

Her big break came at the end of 2017 through Operación Triunfo. The pop industry quickly steered her toward Latin urban sound alongside Aitana with the track Lo malo, racking up five platinum records and more than 200,000 digital sales within a few months.

And the volume of streams shaped her next steps in music.

The industrial noise and the soundtrack of fiction

In 2018, she released Ni la hora with Juan Magán and earned three platinum certifications. But the singer wanted connections with audiovisual fiction rather than being confined to the dance floor. That same year, Televisión Española entrusted her with the theme song for the drama series Fugitiva, starring Paz Vega.

That theme song confirmed a darker, more restrained vocal style, far from the synthetic pulse that commercial radio stations demanded at the time. In 2019, her first short project, Reflexión, sold thousands of physical copies and came close to the top of the sales charts, but the prefabricated formula was already showing signs of wear on stage.

So she decided to hit the brakes before the next round.

Breaking the mold and film assignments

In 2021, she released La luz del martes after scrapping an entire set of Latin pop cuts ready for the factory. The album dropped programmed beats in favor of an acoustic arrangement led by brass and real strings, produced by David Santisteban. It was a decision against the grain of digital platforms, designed to champion live performance in theaters.

The big screen came knocking at her door at the end of 2023. Walt Disney Animation Studios hired her to perform the Spanish-language version of the song Mi deseo and the closing credits song Un buen deseo for the animated film Wish.

The work for the American studio required weeks of phonetic adaptation in the booth. The music supervisors insisted on respecting the meter and the original dynamics composed by Julia Michaels down to the millimeter.

In September 2024, her album Sin final came out, produced with Charly Sánchez and featuring Argentina's Coti on the duet Canción de luto. The tour that followed was booked for mid-sized venues of 800 to 1,200 seats, deliberately leaving behind the stadium shows and mass sponsorships of her early days.
