Annalisa Cochrane

From Pune to the Hollywood Hills

Annalisa Cochrane spent a full decade in Pune, India, before stepping onto a set in Los Angeles. That international experience shaped a perspective that didn't fit the standard profile of a young California star hopeful. She studied at Loyola Marymount University while making the rounds of casting offices with mixed results.

The market isn't always kind.

Her screen debut came in 2014 with a small role in the TV movie The Landlord. There were no red carpets or big headlines. But that job opened the door to daytime television and fast-paced productions. In 2017, she joined the cast of the daytime drama The Young and the Restless as Zoey. These kinds of shows demand memorizing dozens of script pages in a single morning.

Television is a profession of endurance.

The dojo phenomenon and the suspense

In 2018, she first appeared in Cobra Kai as Yasmine. Her character was the classic high school antagonist who enjoys humiliating others (an archetype that Cochrane gave a sharp vulnerability). The series moved from YouTube to Netflix in 2020, and the actress's visibility soared in markets where her name had previously been unknown. She returned for the final season in 2024 after being absent from several episode blocks.

In 2021, she took on the project that demanded the greatest physical and emotional effort. She played Addy Prentiss in One of Us Is Lying, a mystery drama based on Karen M. McManus's bestselling novel. Filming for the first season took place on location in New Zealand, which meant the crew lived in a creative bubble for months. The series reached number one in several European markets after its international distribution on digital platforms.

And the gamble paid off.

In this production, she had to work on the arc of a character who violently loses his social status. Cochrane prefers to alternate big studio productions with projects where the script allows her to explore the gray areas of human behavior. In 2023, she took part in the short film The Hunt to experiment with briefer, more direct storytelling.

New Roles and Production Numbers

In 2024, she starred in the feature film The Night Is Young, directed by Julian Santos. The film explores relationship dynamics in an urban setting on a tight budget. As a result, the actress had to adapt to a guerrilla-style shooting pace with few takes per scene. The film was shot in just 18 days on natural city locations.

In 2025, she has scheduled the premiere of the series Confessions of a Sociopath, where she takes on a leading role with a heavy psychological load. Filming took place mainly in studios in Canada to control the lighting for the nighttime sequences that dominate the plot. The production has an estimated budget of 15 million dollars for its first batch of episodes.

The cost of production insurance for this latest project came to 4 percent of the total budget due to the stunt scenes shot on location.
