Landing in the Georgia Apocalypse

Cassady McClincy landed in the world of The Walking Dead in 2018 to play Lydia. She was seventeen years old and carried the responsibility of bringing to life a key character from Robert Kirkman's comics. The actress joined the AMC series during its ninth season, at a time of creative transition for the franchise.

It was a risky bet for the network.

But the young actress already had plenty of experience on Atlanta sets. In 2013, she made her television debut with a small role in Drop Dead Diva, and shortly after appeared in the series Constantine in 2015. McClincy grew professionally in the state of Georgia and took advantage of the boom in tax incentives in the area to land supporting roles in big-budget productions.

In 2017, she appeared in the first season of Ozark for Netflix, playing Anna Sloan. Her on-screen presence caught the attention of casting directors looking for young performers able to keep up with the pace of location shoots. That same year, she filmed The Girl Who Invented Kissing directed by Tom Sierchio alongside Vincent D’Onofrio.

And the gamble paid off.

Commercial Films and the End of an Era

In 2018, she played Jackie in Love, Simon. The Greg Berlanti movie grossed more than 66 million dollars worldwide, and McClincy was part of the lead character's support group. It was her first experience with studio films distributed by 20th Century Fox, where technical precision on set was a daily requirement.

Filming lasted just two months.

Her involvement with The Walking Dead lasted until the series ended in 2022. For three seasons she dealt with prosthetic skin and night shoots in the woods of Senoia. The actress filmed her final scene for the episode titled Rest in Peace, which aired in November of that year. Her growth on set showed in the restrained gestures of the final episodes in front of the camera.

In 2024, she got involved in the independent project Do Better, playing Sarah. The production focused on locations in Los Angeles and aimed for a much rawer tone than her previous cable television work. McClincy wrapped her involvement in this shoot with a contract that included strict confidentiality clauses covering the final cut and sound post-production.
