Chanel Terrero

Chanel Terrero was born in Havana in 1991, but her technical training as a performer happened in Olesa de Montserrat. By age three she was already living in Barcelona, and before turning ten she was spending her afternoons between rhythmic gymnastics and classical ballet classes. It was an iron-strong training that explains her ability to hit every note while performing high-intensity choreography.

The stage was never a game.

The Discipline of the Pit and the Stage

For years she took supporting roles in TV series such as Águila Roja and Gym Tony. But her natural habitat was Madrid's Gran Vía. There she honed her craft in musical theater, taking part in large-scale productions such as The Lion King and Mamma Mia!. In those orchestra pits she learned that precision is the only way to survive eight shows a week.

In 2022, she reached her greatest media exposure with the Benidorm Fest. Her victory with the song SloMo was no marketing fluke but the result of months of military-style rehearsals with a dance team choreographed by Kyle Hanagami. That performance in Turin at the Eurovision Song Contest returned Spain to the top ranks with a third-place finish that broke a drought of positive results lasting decades.

She endured an environment of pressure that would have crushed any artist with fewer years in the business. Because Chanel was no newcomer to show business. She had worked on El Continental and Cupido before her name appeared on the front pages of the mainstream press.

Nobody handed her anything.

Control Over Her Own Productions

After her European success, she decided to take her time releasing her own music. In 2024, she released her first studio album, titled Agua. It's a work that blends urban rhythms with Caribbean influences and in which she exercised strict control over every creative decision to avoid the usual interference of the music industry.

The industry tends to be in a hurry, but she isn't.

That same year, she took part in the Castilian Spanish dubbing of the Disney film Wish, voicing the lead character. She was also part of the original cast of the musical Malinche by Nacho Cano. These projects confirm that her professional profile fits both animated film and major auteur theater productions.

In 2024, the promotional tour for her album covered much of Spain with a technical crew of more than fifteen people. The album Agua debuted at number one on the official sales chart in its first week of release. The recording sessions were split between Madrid, Miami and Los Angeles, supervised by producers including Leroy Sánchez.
