The girl who didn't want to be Miss España

Patricia Conde moved to Madrid from Valladolid at nineteen, carrying a Miss Palencia title that weighed heavily on her. She was 1999 at the time, and the Miss España pageant still drew huge audiences, but she decided her path didn't include parading in a swimsuit.

That decision was her first major win.

Shortly after, she joined the team of Telecinco's El Informal, where she learned to handle the rhythm of fast-paced comedy alongside Florentino Fernández and Javier Capitán. On that set she discovered that her greatest weapon wasn't her looks but an innate talent for blurting out outrageous remarks with an angelic smile. Audiences connected with that mix of feigned innocence and sharp wit, which broke the rules of conventional late-1990s television.

But the true social phenomenon exploded in 2006 with the launch of La Sexta. For five years, she hosted Sé lo que hicisteis… and turned Sunday lunches into a battleground against the gossip press. That show reached more than 10% audience share on a channel that was just starting to broadcast, and Patricia Conde became the public face of a style of humor that today seems impossible given political correctness.

A Refuge in Fiction and on Stage

When the show ended in 2011, many expected her to jump straight into another big entertainment format. She chose to slow down instead. She turned to acting and theater because she needed to prove there was a life beyond the teleprompter.

And she achieved it through projects that pushed her well outside her comfort zone.

In 2014, she starred in the film Pancho, el perro millonario, and a year later she joined the series Gym Tony on Cuatro. She wasn't chasing praise from serious critics; she wanted to work in the industry from different angles. She took part in the dubbing of Despicable Me 2 in 2013 and repeated the experience with Gru 3 in 2017, lending her voice to the character Lucy Wilde.

Her role in Velvet Colección in 2017, playing Brigitte Bardot, was a necessary turning point. She filmed a total of ten episodes in which she moved away from pure parody to embrace a more sophisticated and dramatic style. It proved she could fit into big-budget productions without carrying the stigma of the comedy host.

Unfinished business and the return to chaos

Patricia Conde's career hasn't been free of controversy outside the spotlight. Her problems with the Spanish tax agency became public in 2017, and since then her name often appears on lists of tax debtors. That financial pressure didn't stop her, but it did shape some of her later career moves on television.

She returned to Movistar Plus+ in 2018 to lead Wifileaks and later Dar cera, pulir 0 alongside Ángel Martín. They recaptured their old chemistry, but the digital landscape was no longer the same.

In 2022, she took on the challenge of MasterChef Celebrity and starred in one of the most controversial editions in Spanish TV history. Her time in the kitchen ended with direct accusations against the show's production made through her social media. That episode sparked a national debate about mental health and the limits of entertainment in prime time.

The bet was a risky one.

During 2024, she focused on creating content and on projects tied to her fashion business. In 2025, she kept her presence in the advertising sector while reviewing scripts to return to Spanish fiction. Income from social media collaborations and brand campaigns now makes up most of her business activity.

The debt owed to the tax authorities in 2023 still amounted to 1.06 million euros.
