Edurne García Almagro was never a newcomer to casting cameras. Long before the explosion of 2005, the Madrid native had already logged hours on set in series such as Ana y los siete and Hospital Central. Her entry into the country's most famous music academy was simply the accelerator for a machine that was already running.
In 2006, she released her first self-titled album. The music market at the time still bought physical CDs, and she managed to sell thousands of copies in just a few weeks. But the industry is fickle, and early success is often a trap if it isn't managed with a cool head.
In 2007, she took on the role of Sandy in the musical Grease. It wasn't just about singing; it meant enduring tours with eight shows a week across Spain. It was the real test that showed her career wouldn't be limited to recording studios.
And the effort paid off.
In 2015, the focus shifted in scale. Her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Amanecer required a technical investment of thousands of euros in a staging that failed to win over the European jury. That 21 placement became a hard lesson about the industry's expectations at home and how international voting works.
Linear television found a reliable asset in her. In 2016, she took a seat on the judging panel of Got Talent España, a role she held for nearly ten years. Her ability to connect with audiences without creating unnecessary controversy kept her at the center of the advertising and television business.
But the music was still there, simmering beneath the surface.
In 2020, she released Catarsis, a project in which she began making direct decisions about production and lyrics. She wanted to move away from the manufactured ballads that had been assigned to her years earlier (a common move for artists seeking autonomy after long contracts).
The album performed well on digital platforms and allowed her to plan a more personal tour.
Her comfort zone came to an abrupt end. In March 2024, she announced her permanent departure from the talent show that had been her home for a decade. It was a bold move for someone with such a firm position on Telecinco's lineup.
But the gamble paid off.
That same year she signed on as a coach for La Voz Kids on Antena 3 and released the single Nada, a preview of her seventh studio album. In 2024, the production focused on a danceable pop sound with clear references to the aesthetics of the 1980s, aiming at a younger, nightlife-oriented audience.
The music video for Nada was shot in an industrial setting to visually break away from her previous era. The production team used vintage lenses to achieve a more cinematic, raw film grain. The marketing investment for this relaunch surpassed the figures of her two previous releases combined.
Her contract with her new management agency in 2024 prioritizes summer festivals over closed studio sessions. The production of her album éXtasy was wrapped up in November of that same year with a team of Swedish sound engineers.
