Kira Miró was born in 1980 into a home where film wasn't a dream but everyday language. Her father was a businessman and her mother an actress. She grew up in Gran Canaria surrounded by scripts and cameras before deciding her place was in front of the lens. In 1999 she landed her first big break on national television with Desesperado Club Social.
That youth show ran for three years and taught her how the industry's pace worked. But Madrid isn't always kind to someone who arrives from elsewhere with such a distinctive look. The press of the time fixated on her physique, and she had to fight twice as hard to be heard for her acting.
Her looks were her first professional prison.
In 2004 she got the call from Álex de la Iglesia for Crimen Ferpecto. It was a technical turning point, because it forced her to handle dark comedy in a highly demanding environment. She worked alongside Guillermo Toledo on a production that did well at the box office and opened the doors of auteur cinema to her.
And despite the media spotlight, she never stopped training at Cristina Rota's school. She knew that television brings fast fame, but theater brings the respect she was looking for.
In the following years she appeared in mainstream series such as Los Serrano or Punta Escarlata. These were roles that checked the boxes but never fully tapped her dramatic range. It was in theater that she found the characters film was denying her at the time.
In 2012 she starred in La verdad and later in El nombre in 2014, directed by Gabriel Olivares. These projects were key to casting directors seeing her in a new light. But the road wasn't a straight one, and there were periods of less work when she turned to extreme sports and physical discipline.
Nobody survives twenty years in this business on a pretty face alone.
Because the Spanish industry is quick to forget names as soon as a new face appears. She chose resilience. In 2018 she joined the cast of Servir y proteger for public television. It was a daily shooting boot camp that gave her back the agility she needed for what came next with streaming platforms.
In 2022 her career took a major leap with Machos alfa on Netflix. The series by the Caballero brothers placed her in a contemporary comedy register that connected with a global audience. Playing a character who questions gender roles allowed her to show a much sharper and less accommodating side.
But not everything was fiction during that stage of her life. In 2021 she took part in the show The Edge and won the season after passing tests that demanded extraordinary mental strength. That wasn't acting. It was pure stress management in front of millions of viewers.
And her bet on commercial comedy kept paying off.
In 2024 she premiered the film I Hate Summer alongside an ensemble cast of familiar names in Spanish genre cinema. Filming took place across several locations in Tenerife and Madrid. The film had a production budget of approximately 4.5 million euros and was designed specifically for the summer theatrical market.
