Off the Beaten Path

Eve Hewson landed in New York at eighteen to study acting at the Tisch School of the Arts. She didn't want to be a rock star's daughter in Dublin. So she sought relative anonymity among scripts and body expression classes in Manhattan.

Her first major role came in 2011 with This Must Be the Place. She shared the screen with Sean Penn under the direction of Paolo Sorrentino. But the industry still looked at her with some suspicion because of her last name.

In 2014, she put on a nurse's uniform for The Knick. Steven Soderbergh trusted her to play Lucy Elkins over two seasons. The show was shot with Red Epic digital cameras and an exhausting production pace that required memorizing entire blocks of technical dialogue.

It was her true film school.

After period television, she looked for smaller projects in independent film. In 2018, she appeared in the new version of Papillon and in the adventure Robin Hood. The latter production cost 100 million dollars and barely grossed 86 million dollars worldwide.

Algorithms and the Shift to Streaming

Her global visibility changed with the premiere of Behind Her Eyes in 2021. That psychological thriller for Netflix put her on millions of TV screens during the lockdown months. Her icy gaze fit perfectly with the plot's final twist.

In 2022, she starred in Bad Sisters for Apple TV+. The series, created by Sharon Horgan, let her explore dark comedy and family drama in a purely Irish setting. Filming took place mainly at the Forty Foot cliffs in Dublin.

There was no turning back.

During 2023, she worked with John Carney on Flora and Son. She had to learn to play guitar and sing to play a single mother trying to connect with her son through music. The film was sold to Apple for 20 million dollars after its run at the Sundance Film Festival.

The Big Ensemble Cast Industry

In 2024, she starred in The Perfect Couple alongside Nicole Kidman. This mystery series was based on Elin Hilderbrand's novel. Filming in Massachusetts lasted four months and secured her place among the big leagues of digital distribution.

And the gamble paid off.

Production on her next big-budget feature was set for 2025 under the direction of Noah Baumbach. The contract includes strict confidentiality clauses and a shooting schedule across several locations in Europe. The estimated budget for this project exceeds 80 million dollars.
