A debut without expectations

Ilayda Çevik didn't need years of casting calls to find her place in the Turkish industry. In 2013 she landed the role of Maya Samver in Karagül. She was just 18 years old, with a solid theater background that already showed promise at the Müjdat Gezen Arts Center.

And the gamble paid off.

Born in Balıkesir in 1994. Her interest in acting was no accident or teenage whim. She studied theater at Yeditepe University, which gave her a technical foundation that many actors of her generation overlook in the rush for digital fame.

That first shoot for Karagül lasted three years. It was an intensive school in front of the cameras, where she learned to keep up with the pace of Ottoman-era productions. The series reached 125 episodes and was exported to dozens of countries.

From rural drama to urban suspense

In 2017 she took part in the movie Rehber. It was her first foray into film after spending hundreds of hours on TV sets. But the small screen kept calling her back with force.

She accepted the role of Berrak in Sen Anlat Karadeniz in 2018. The plot dealt with the harsh subject of domestic violence, and her character brought a fragility necessary to the balance of the story. It reached peak ratings of over ten million viewers in Turkey.

Audiences hated her, and that was her biggest win.

Her rise was not easy. The pressure of daily productions in Istanbul wears anyone down. So Ilayda decided to be more selective about her appearances to avoid burning out her image. In 2020 she took part in Gel Dese Ask, but the series did not have the run it was expected to have due to production problems.

Maturing into antagonist roles

Her entry into Bir Zamanlar Çukurova in 2021 marked a complete change of pace. She played Betül, a woman with many shadows who sought revenge and status. It was one of the most expensive productions of the decade and gave her the chance to work with international-level budgets.

In 2022 she joined the cast of Aldatmak. She played Ipek, a complex woman in a legal and family drama that ran until 2024. Filming this series involved fourteen-hour days on outdoor and indoor locations across Istanbul.

Ilayda speaks French and English fluently. This language skill sets her apart from other cast members and opens doors beyond her home country. Her contract for Aldatmak included specific clauses on rest time between scenes to protect her vocal health.

By 2024, the actress had more than ten long-running projects on her professional resume. The total number of episodes recorded by the performer exceeds five hundred. The production of Aldatmak brought her run to a close with a total of 71 episodes aired.
