In 1993, Jack Noseworthy had to eat human flesh on camera for Frank Marshall. It was during the filming of Alive, and his role as a survivor of the Andes plane disaster immediately put him on Hollywood's radar. Before that, he was just a kid from Massachusetts who made a living dancing in the national tour of Cats.
And the gamble paid off.
Throughout the 1990s, his face was everywhere. But he wasn't the headline star who dominated the screen; he was the essential supporting player who brought energy to the scene. In 1996, he shared the bill with Pamela Anderson in Barb Wire. It was a critical disaster, but it gave him massive visibility in an industry that was still searching for its place.
Then came Event Horizon in 1997. In this cult sci-fi classic from Paul W.S. Anderson, he played Justin, and his scene in the air lock still haunts space horror fans. The shoot cost $60 million, and Noseworthy held his own alongside heavyweights such as Laurence Fishburne and Sam Neill.
In 2000, he appeared in U-571 alongside Matthew McConaughey. It was his most serious foray into big-budget war movies. But for an entire generation, he will always be the tormented young man from the music video for Always by Bon Jovi.
That 1994 clip played on a loop on MTV for months.
The film industry can be fickle with actors of his profile. Despite a string of strong projects, he never made the leap to the top tier of the highest-paid stars. So his résumé expanded into television, with appearances on Law & Order and CSI, while he kept one foot on the New York stage.
Noseworthy never abandoned his roots in musical theater. In 2002, he starred in the stage version of Sweet Smell of Success. The stage gave him a level of creative control that film often denied him.
He married choreographer Sergio Trujillo in 2011 after a long relationship.
In 2022, he was part of the cast of The Music Man on Broadway. He shared the stage with Hugh Jackman in a production that brought in more than $3 million a week at the height of its box office run. In 2023, he appeared in the series The Gilded Age, playing Mr. McNeil.
Filming for the second season of the HBO series wrapped at the New York studios under strict union protocols.
