Jitaraphol Potiwihok lives in a constant contradiction that he resolves with a white lab coat and a script under his arm. In Thailand, it's common for teen idols to come out of engineering or medical schools, but this dermatologist, born in 1994, breaks the mold with his ability to manage two impossible schedules. He doesn't chase fame through noise. He sees acting as an extension of his technical training at Chiang Mai University.
Medicine gives him the ground, and acting gives him the flight.
In 2021, he took on the role of Wai in the series Bad Buddy. It was a supporting part, a troublemaking friend who served as a counterpoint to the main storyline of the leads. But his physical presence and a gaze that seems to analyze everything caught the attention of the production company GMMTV. He didn't need long monologues for audiences to start asking who this guy was, who seemed far too mature for the school genre.
That debut was a controlled experiment.
His breakout into leading roles came in 2022 with Vice Versa. Here, the Thai industry decided to pair him with Sea Tawinan, and the chemistry worked from the very first rehearsal. The series played with parallel universes and a highly saturated visual style that demanded emotional restraint, which Potiwihok handled with surgical precision. Because sometimes acting is less about speaking and more about listening, and he handles silences better than many veterans on the Bangkok circuit.
If 2022 was the year of discovery, 2023 marked his definitive artistic validation. With Last Twilight, he took on the challenge of playing Mork, a complex character with a dark past and a heavy dramatic burden. The story of his co-star's gradual loss of sight forced him to work on his physicality from a much rawer place. He achieved an organic connection that avoided the cheap melodrama of typical commercial productions.
And that's how he shed the pretty-face label on television.
In 2024, he took part in Ploy's Yearbook and kept building his personal brand beyond his home country's borders. Advertising contracts and international tours across Asia have not slowed his work at the dermatology clinic. He still sees patients when filming schedules allow. It's a matter of mental balance. He prefers to keep one foot in the reality of skin and the other in the fiction of the cameras so he doesn't lose his bearings in an industry that chews up people every season.
His contract with GMMTV includes clauses to protect his schedule for ongoing medical training and attendance at international healthcare conferences.
