Lukerya Ilyashenko was born in Samara in 1989, and her childhood ended early when she moved to Moscow to enroll at the Academy of Choreography. There she learned that pain is a constant variable in success. She trained under the strict discipline of classical ballet and went on to dance professionally for the Imperial Russian Ballet. But a foot injury halted her rise before she turned twenty.
But her body said enough.
Without dance, she was forced to seek refuge in musicals and in pop groups of little relevance. That transitional period was hard. In 2010 she began studying acting at German Sidakov's school because she needed a professional way out that didn't depend solely on her joints. Her first real opportunity in front of the camera came with supporting roles in low-budget TV series.
In 2014 the series Sweet Life overnight made her far more visible. She played Lera, a young woman who used her looks to climb the social ladder in Moscow. It was a role that broke taboos on Russian television with its raw portrayal of sex. Audiences quickly typecast her as a femme fatale, but she used that label to build a solid career in genre cinema.
Fame comes at a price in Russia.
Ilyashenko avoided getting stuck in urban dramas and sought out projects that demanded physical effort similar to her years as a dancer. In 2017 she appeared in About Love. For Adults Only, where she shared the cast with John Malkovich. But her leap into big visual effects productions came in 2019 with the release of The Blackout (Avanpost).
In this science fiction film, she played a doctor in a post-apocalyptic world where much of humanity has vanished. The shoot was exhausting due to the weather conditions and the heavy load of action scenes. And the fantasy genre gave her another dimension.
That same year she shot High Security Vacation and began working on projects that explored psychological suspense. In 2021 she starred in the series Happy End, where she dove into the dark world of the webcam sex industry. It was a risky role that drew harsh criticism for its visual honesty, but it established her as one of the bravest actresses of her generation.
Her pace of work did not slow down in the years that followed.
In 2022 she joined the ambitious epic fantasy project Aeterna: Part One, based on the novels by Vera Kamsha. There she traded urban settings for period costumes and palace intrigue. But the production suffered significant delays in its international distribution due to the geopolitical situation. Even so, her portrayal of Queen Jereana was praised by the specialist press for its technical coolness.
By 2023, Ilyashenko had finished filming the suspense series The Settlers in the Yaroslavl region. The production budget for this project exceeded one hundred million rubles, and the crew had to contend with subzero temperatures during much of the outdoor shoot.
