Moon Bloodgood didn't start out at a prestigious acting school or under the wing of a Beverly Hills talent agent. Her first real stage was the hardwood floor of the Forum in Inglewood, as a dancer for the Lakers. There she learned that image was a working tool and that physical discipline opens doors that pure talent sometimes overlooks.
And the gamble paid off.
She went through modeling before the film camera zeroed in on her Korean and European features. Her official debut came in 2002 with a brief appearance on the series Just Shoot Me!, but her move into mainstream film took a couple more years to arrive. In 2004 she shot Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! and began taking on one quick-turnaround project after another.
In 2007, she starred in Pathfinder, and just two years later she dove headfirst into the world of machines with Terminator Salvation. She played Blair Williams under McG's direction, on a shoot that many remember more for the leaked audio of Christian Bale than for the original script. Bloodgood brought a physical toughness that needed no explanatory dialogue, because her presence already filled the frame.
But Hollywood tends to typecast women who know how to handle a gun quickly. So television became her main refuge for developing characters with more psychological nuance.
She accepted the role of Dr. Anne Glass in Falling Skies in 2011 and stayed with the production of Steven Spielberg for five full seasons. It was her period of greatest financial and professional stability to date.
The series ended in 2015.
Many critics were surprised when she appeared in The Sessions in 2012. In this independent film, she played a sex therapist and had to shoot full nudity scenes with John Hawkes. It was a raw, understated role that moved away from explosions and aliens to focus on raw human vulnerability.
She received a special jury award at Sundance for the collective work of that film's entire cast. But that recognition didn't push her to chase mass stardom again, and she preferred to keep a low profile away from the spotlight.
In 2018, she joined the cast of NCIS: Los Angeles to play Lieutenant Katherine Casillas across several episodes. It was a return to the procedural genre that dominates American broadcast television, and it allowed her to stay active without the pressures of major press tours.
Her work pace became more selective.
In 2023, she joined the series The Power, produced by Amazon Prime Video, where she played the mother of one of the main characters. Filming took place mainly in locations in the United Kingdom and Canada, with an estimated budget of 100 million dollars for its first season. Bloodgood lives in California and handles her business deals through the agency UTA.
