In 2016, a phone camera propped against a mirror in a bedroom in Elche was recording fifteen-second dance routines. Sofía Moreno Marco had just turned twelve, had a surfer nickname, and a shyness that vanished whenever she hit the red record button. The walls of her bedroom were a buffer against the daily bullying she faced at school.

No one suspected the business behind the dance.

Her traffic surged overnight when the former Musical.ly platform was absorbed by TikTok's algorithm machine. Within months, brands discovered that this young woman was holding the attention of more than five million active users who never tuned in to regular television. Ad revenue replaced her Sunday allowance.

In 2019, publisher Montena released her first book, La magia de una canción, aiming to bring her digital engagement numbers to print. That publishing move worked at department store book signings. But the real challenge was moving from the phone to sets with industrial lighting and live sound.

The Price of the Home Studio

During 2022, she tried to balance filming with a degree in Physical Therapy at the University of Elche. She didn't last a single semester. The pace of advertising contracts and casting calls in Madrid required twelve-hour days in front of the camera, leaving no room to attend lectures.

At the end of 2022, Amazon Prime Video premiered Lola Lolita, las reinas de TikTok, a docuseries designed to show the inner workings of digital fame. Sofía had to swap the fixed phone cameras for cinematic lenses and continuous tracking shots that captured family arguments, crying fits and grueling makeup sessions.

The shift in scale was brutal.

And the audience responded. The documentary dropped the feel-good tone of social media to show the mental toll of constant public exposure. The production proved that her face works in long-form formats with slower editing.

Diving, Pavement and Red Carpets

Her home-based content started to feel limited, and in 2023 Sofía decided to shift her videos toward underwater freediving and adventure travel along the Mediterranean coast. That October, the industry recognized this change of focus by awarding her the travel prize at the GenZ Awards.

Live streaming was a different story.

In April 2024, she stepped onto the set of El Hormiguero for an interview with a screen share above 15%. On live TV there are no reruns, and response time has to be instant. Sofía kept up with the pace of the panel in front of more than three million viewers without falling into the tics typical of internet creators.

In March 2025, she walked the red carpet at the Málaga Film Festival to cover the festival's premieres for digital media. There, the specialized press noticed her interest in dramatic productions and studio filming processes. In 2026, her business team signed international sponsorship deals with fixed production clauses worth 300,000 euros a year.

Trivia about Sofía Surferss

Things you probably didn't know about Sofía Surferss

She started posting videos at just 12 years old, when the platform was still Musical.ly. At first it was just a hobby, with no idea it would one day become her job.
Her love of the sea was partly sparked by her father, a windsurfing enthusiast, whom she and her sister used to accompany when she was little. Over time, she also started practicing the sport herself.
She has swum with sharks and orcas and even went skydiving, experiences she has shared while talking about her personal challenges and her appearance on "Planeta Calleja".
Although her image is often associated with TikTok, for a time she combined her work as a creator with university studies in physical therapy.
She is the younger sister of Lola Lolita, and both have spoken publicly about the difficulty of navigating an industry where some people see them as competition rather than colleagues.
During her school years she was bullied, and she explained that she spent recess alone for three years. Among the comments she received was a pun on her stage name and the word "tabla" (a board, as in surfboard).
She has admitted that she also watches TikTok as a viewer and follows many Mexican creators, especially comedy, cooking and fashion content.
Her content evolved from viral dance videos to travel, nature and the ocean, eventually attracting followers interested in freediving and other sea-related activities.
Beyond creating content, she has launched her own projects tied to her identity and the ocean, including Surfers Wave and Aolelim, a swimwear fashion initiative.
She was the first guest on the vlog "Quién me manda," hosted by Karin Herrero and premiered on LOS40.
