Worlds and Boards
Clear a board to unlock the next one. Each new world requires a number of stars: the ones for "no hints" and "on time" count.
Mahjong Solitaire Rules
- Free tiles: a tile can be selected if nothing is on top of it and its left or right side is open.
- Pairs: tap two matching free tiles and they leave the set. The winner is whoever clears the board.
- Flowers and seasons: the four flowers match each other even if the design changes, and the same goes for the four seasons.
- No moves: if no free pairs are left, we'll let you know. You can shuffle or undo as long as you have uses left.
This is classic solitaire mahjong, the one many know as Shanghai: 144 tiles stacked in layers and one simple rule, match the free ones. Every deal has a solution, so if you get stuck, it means you could have picked a better pair. Veteran tip: when three matching tiles are free, remove the two that are blocking others.
Tiles and Power-Ups
- Three suits from 1 to 9: bamboo, characters and circles, with four tiles of each. The number is in the corner.
- Honors: the four winds and the three dragons. The white dragon has a film frame border.
- Spotlight (F): highlights a safe pair, one that won't leave you without moves.
- Take One: undoes your last pair for free. It is used up automatically when you press Undo.
- Shuffle (B): rearranges the remaining tiles with a guaranteed solution.
- X-Ray (X): for 3 seconds you can see the tile under each stack.
Power-ups are earned by playing: quick pair combos, chains of the same suit, closing all four flowers or all four seasons, and clearing three stars. They are saved for other boards (up to 3 of each).
Scoring and stars
- +5Each pair, multiplied by the combo if you make it in less than 4 seconds (up to ×3).
- +5Suit chain: for each pair of the same suit in a row. The fourth one gives you a free False Take.
- +15Flowers and seasons, which also give 5 extra seconds on timed boards.
- −Paid helps: undo −10, hint −15, and shuffle −50. Power-ups are free.
- ★Stars: one for clearing the board, another if you don't use paid helps, and a third if you also beat the shooting time.
When you finish, you earn the board bonus and the time bonus. Free play and the daily deal also score points. Press End session and save to take your points to the Arena: a good session usually scores around 1,500–5,000 points.
