Chicago, 1929. Joe and Jerry are two broke musicians who play in a bar. Joe is an impulsive saxophonist who loves gambling and women, while Jerry, a double bass player, is the more cautious of the two and tries to keep their finances in order. They work at an underground club in the city, owned by a mob boss, but their routine falls apart when the police raid it. Shortly after, both of them accidentally witness a gangland hit between rival gangs. They know the gangsters could identify them and that their only option is to leave town as soon as possible. The film is directed by Billy Wilder and stars Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon.
