Strange Way of Life

A man rides across the desert on horseback toward Bitter Creek. He's coming to visit Sheriff Jake. Twenty-five years earlier, the sheriff and Silva, the rancher riding out to meet him, worked together as hired guns. Silva claims he's come to reconnect with his old friend from youth, and they do share a warm reunion, but the next morning Sheriff Jake tells him that the real reason for his trip has nothing to do with old memories of their friendship.
