Luis Buñuel's masterpiece

A train makes its way across the peninsula, and in one of its compartments Mathieu, a middle-aged French gentleman of good standing, tells his fellow passengers about his romantic history. It all began with Conchita, a young flamenco dancer from Seville, of humble origins and a beauty that leaves him speechless. Mathieu sets out to win her over and spends his days pursuing her. She gives him hope, but always finds a way to slip away. Directed by Luis Buñuel and starring Fernando Rey, the film opens with this retrospective account, delivered aloud to strangers who listen without interrupting.
