Dewey Finn (Jack Black) is a guitarist with delusions of grandeur who gets kicked out of his band. Desperate to find a job due to his lack of money, he impersonates a substitute teacher to teach the young pre-teen 5th graders at a private school, whom he intends to teach "high-voltage rock & roll." Among his students is Yuki, a 9-year-old guitar prodigy who can help Dewey win the battle of the bands... and solve his financial problems along the way.
