The Wind Rises

Jiro dreams of flying and designing beautiful airplanes, inspired by the famous Italian aeronautical engineer Caproni. Nearsighted since childhood and therefore unable to fly, Jiro joins the aeronautical division of an engineering company in 1927. His genius is soon recognized, and he becomes one of the most prestigious aircraft designers. The film recounts his biography and recreates historical events that marked his life, such as the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, the Great Depression, the tuberculosis epidemic and Japan's entry into the war.
