Tom and Evelyn are an English-speaking tourist couple who take a vacation before the birth of their third child. At first, a TV documentary they watch together shows real footage of adults abusing children during wars and famines, while the opening credits roll over those images. Then the couple arrives at Almanzora Island, off the Spanish Mediterranean coast, planning to relax. There they find a small fishing village where there seem to be no adults. There are only children, with serious, silent faces, who watch them without looking away. Tom and Evelyn begin to sense that something is not right in this place.
