What Season 1 of Captain Tsubasa

Oliver Atom, a sixth-grader, arrives in Fujisawa with one goal: to win the World Cup. He soon crosses paths with New Pie, a group of friends who are fighting for the same city turf as San Francisco Elementary. Benji Price, San Francisco's star and goalkeeper, refuses to give up any ground and challenges Oliver to a showdown that defines the entire season. New Pie trains under Roberto Sedinho, who sees in Oliver a player much like himself. Matches between the two teams follow one another, with razor-thin scores, goals off the post and injuries that sideline key players, including Benji. The season revolves around the rivalry between New Pie and San Francisco and Oliver's growth as the team's leader.
