What Season 1 of Cathedral of the Sea

The story begins in 14th-century Barcelona, at the height of prosperity under the Crown of Aragon. The city's growth reaches La Ribera, a fishermen's neighborhood where the church of Santa Maria del Mar is beginning to rise. There arrive Bernat, a serf, and his young son Arnau, fleeing the abuses of the feudal lords. Father and son seek a better life in a city that is not expecting them. Arnau works as a groom, stevedore and soldier, and aspires to free himself from servitude. Famine pushes the serfs to rebel against the nobles, while changes of home and work put the family to the test. Joan, meanwhile, gets the chance to study.
