What Season 1 of Fawlty Towers
Basil Fawlty runs a small hotel in Torquay, on the English coast, with his wife, Sybil. He wants to give the establishment some class, but his bad temper and sharp tongue work against him. Every day, mistakes pile up, both his own and others': demanding guests, useless staff and small disasters one after another. Manuel, the waiter who barely speaks English, and Polly, who often bails the boss out of trouble, round out the staff. The episodes follow Basil's attempts to keep the business afloat while his nerves wear thin among guests and setbacks. Bossy and wry, Sybil completes a cast that tests the patience of the guests.
