The suitcase and the cold of London

Alicia Agneson arrived in London at fifteen with little more than a suitcase. She didn't speak English fluently, but she knew Sweden was too small for her future plans. She worked in coffee shops while looking for a real opportunity in musical theater.

And the gamble paid off.

In 2017, she landed the role of Freydis in the fifth season of Vikings. It was a rigorous audition process, and her ability to convey both coolness and vulnerability won over the casting team. She went from being an unknown to appearing in one of the most-watched shows worldwide.

The death of her first character in the plot did not end her contract with the series. Creator Michael Hirst decided that Agneson would return in the sixth season as Princess Katia. This move required the actress to master a very specific Russian accent and to endure filming in extreme weather conditions in Ireland.

She played two different roles in the same production, something uncommon in historical dramas of this budget. Her chemistry with the character Ivar the Boneless was the driving force of her story until the series ended in 2020.

A change of pace on the big screen

After the Nordic saga ended, she sought projects that would take her away from the swords-and-shields genre. In 2020, she appeared in The Courier alongside Benedict Cumberbatch. It was a brief but strategic role that helped her break into the major film studio circuit.

But her real interest has always been in controlling her own image.

In 2022, she filmed Cake and appeared in the series Clark for Netflix. In this production, she returned to her Swedish roots, working under director Jonas Åkerlund. The project told the story of the criminal who gave rise to the term Stockholm Syndrome.

In 2023, she joined the cast of A Place to Fight For, Disney+'s first original French film. The movie explores environmental activism and marked a complete change in tone from her previous work on British television.

It wasn't all a straight path.

Agneson has balanced acting with managing her personal brand in the fashion industry. In 2024, her presence at festivals reflects a strategy of financial independence that lets her choose scripts at her own pace.

She lives in south London and handles her own advertising contracts without relying on major outside agencies. Filming for her role in The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die wrapped in Hungary, with an estimated budget of fifteen million dollars.
