Alp Navruz had no intention of stepping onto a film set while finishing his studies in Language and Literature at Yıldız Technical University. His original plan was to stay close to books and technical writing. But the fashion world recruited him before he could submit his thesis, and that changed his financial priorities.
His first serious foray onto the screen came in 2016 with the horror film Ceberrut. It was a low-key project that barely made an impact at the domestic box office. That shoot taught him that academic training wasn't enough to handle the pressure of a professional camera.
Turkish industry accepted him right away.
In 2017 he filmed Fazilet Hanım ve Kızları, and his salary increased dramatically. He played Sinan Egemen, a character that helped him move away from his static model image and into complex family drama. The series was sold to more than 50 countries, which secured his financial stability for the following five years.
Navruz often says he prefers scripts with psychological depth. In 2018 he took the lead role in Elimi Bırakma alongside Alina Boz. The production stayed on air until the end of 2019, with ratings that exceeded the average for the TRT 1 channel. It was a period of 14-hour shooting days on location in Istanbul.
But the actor decided to switch gears in 2020 when he accepted Zümrüdüanka. The shoot moved to the arid landscapes of Cappadocia, which made production conditions harsher. Working in subzero temperatures in central Anatolia demands a physical endurance that drama schools don't teach.
The international market already had him on its radar.
In 2021, he looked for a breather with the romantic comedy Ada Masalı. Filmed on the island of Kırlangıç, the series performed better outside Turkey than in the domestic market. During that shoot, the press focused more on his private life than on his acting craft, something Navruz has always tried to manage with a careful distance and few official statements.
By 2022, the actor was looking for projects with greater social weight. In Yürek Çıkmazı he played a man scarred by domestic violence and family alcoholism. It was a raw shoot, without the visual polish of his earlier work in romantic genres. Local critics praised the fact that he didn't use stunt doubles in the most physically demanding scenes.
There was no rest after that project.
In 2024 he signed on to star in Senden Önce, an adaptation of the Lebanese series Till Death. The production ran into script problems from the first weeks, and the network Kanal D decided to cancel the broadcast after only three episodes. This failure led him to adjust his project selection strategy for the rest of the decade.
Navruz keeps a low profile on social media despite having millions of followers. He prefers to spend his time swimming and reading Russian classics. The advertising contract he signed with a men's clothing brand in 2023 keeps his face on billboards until 2025. The series Senden Önce wrapped production with an estimated loss of several million Turkish lira due to unamortized set design costs.
