Candy Veloso understands the craft from a purely technical standpoint. There's no mystique in the approach, but there is a Prussian discipline carried over from the years of training at the Estudio Corazza. That period with Juan Carlos Corazza shapes how today and always approaches scripts.

Before stepping onto set, she breaks down every intention until the character stops being just text. For her, filmmaking isn't a matter of divine inspiration but of hours at the table and analysis. Her method is based on stripping away the superfluous.

Preparation is her refuge.

Her Television Fiction Years

In 2019, she took part in the series El Pueblo for Telecinco and Amazon Prime Video. That experience in the rural setting of Soria taught her the rhythm of ensemble comedy. And it worked. Veloso knows that on television, time is the main enemy.

But her ability to retain complex dialogue made the filming days in Peñafría easier. In 2021, she arrived in Herederas under the direction of Carlos Marbán. In this horror film, she played a woman trapped in a plot of murky family legacies.

It was her first major physical challenge in front of the camera. Genre filmmaking demands control of the body, which Veloso delivered without artifice. In 2023, she returned to the fourth season of El Pueblo to close out her character's arc.

And the gamble paid off.

Managing Your Own Risk

Many actors wait for a call from a casting office. But Candy Veloso decided to build her own company structure in 2022 with the production company The Other Side Films. She didn't want to depend on other people's decisions to tell stories that truly interested her.

So she started getting projects off the ground from the technical side. In 2023, she produced the short film Inseparables, in which she also took a leading role. The film was selected for prestigious international film festivals.

That recognition validated her ability to manage budgets and teams. Producing requires a coolness that doesn't always sit well with an actor's ego. Yet she seems comfortable in that duality of offices and dressing rooms.

Producing is another way of acting.

In 2024, she focused her efforts on the feature film The Other Side. It's a bet on psychological thriller that seeks a stark visual language. Filming was completed in various locations in Madrid with a small crew to gain agility in the shots.

Veloso personally supervised the color grading process to achieve an oppressive atmosphere in the interiors. The film wrapped its editing phase with a final running time of 92 minutes. The final production budget stayed within the margins initially planned.
