Eden Hart rarely gives long interviews. She prefers to talk about lenses and exposure times rather than inner motivations, because she sees filmmaking as a technical craft rather than personal therapy. In 2019, she moved to Los Angeles with a suitcase full of hand-corrected scripts and one fixed idea in her head. She wasn't after fame but creative independence.
And she got it quickly.
Her first major work as a director was The Art of the Deal in 2020. It was a low-budget production where she also edited the film herself to cut costs and keep control of the narrative pacing. Critics noticed her ability to shoot tense dialogue scenes in confined spaces without suffocating the audience.
In 2021, she premiered The Great Find. The film was a major logistical challenge because it was shot entirely during international travel restrictions. Hart decided the crew would not exceed ten people to make travel easier. The final budget did not reach fifty thousand dollars.
But the austerity didn't affect the final result.
The film gained traction on independent film circuits in Australia and the United States. Hart refused to sell the rights to a streaming platform right away (a risky decision at the time). Instead, she waited for a deal that would let her keep the intellectual property of her future original projects.
In 2024, she wrapped shooting on her most ambitious project in terms of visual storytelling. It's a psychological drama that explores loneliness in crowded urban settings. For this production, she used 16mm cameras because she wanted a grainy texture that digital sensors couldn't replicate with the same grit.
She isn't a creator who seeks easy applause.
Her style is built on cold observation and long takes that last longer than the average viewer is used to processing. So her cinema requires a patience that is rare in commercial theaters. In 2025, she signed a distribution deal for three films with a European production company, under the strict condition of no artistic interference in the final cut.
Filming of her next film begins in November 2026 in Berlin. The art department's budget is 1.2 million euros.
